View this post on Instagram Cancer, day 25. Today was a day of rest... Sweet Hyrum slept in till 11, his typical wake up time. I love that our nurses all know to let him sleep in. He woke up, ate his typical lunch of Mac n 'cheese' and ice cream- his replacement for milk since starting chemo. He then napped again for another 4 hours. Awake for 2 hours for more 'cheese' and ice cream. Then asleep again. Twice today, he has fallen asleep riding in the car. The staff has told us they want to make sure and set aside the car for him to use for his future hospitalizations. Speaking of future hospitalizations, a secondary team came in to discuss a possible option to avoid general anesthesia for all of his planned lumbar punctures throughout treatment. There is concern that because Hyrum has a reactive airway it might be best to avoid general anesthesia all together. The option presented to us today is invasive yet beneficial and comes with possible adverse concerns that have us unsure of the best option for little Hyrum. I am grateful the team came in several times today to discuss this with me. We talked with 3 different individuals for more than 2 hours about details and concerns. I tend to feel more peace knowing the medical professional information rather than the softened feel good lingo. I am far better equipped to make decisions based on facts than emotions. Hyrum sleeping through it all was quite a blessing! #hopeforHyrum A post shared by April Abby Ashlyn Addi & Hyrum (@pr3ttylittleladies) on Nov 14, 2019 at 8:29pm PST
