View this post on Instagram There are so many incredible things that our bodies do for us on a regularly basis. From daily existence to healing ourselves our bodies are truly perfect. If we all took the time to learn how our bodies actually worked maybe we could instill more body positivity rather than shame. That our bodies should be celebrated for what they do rather than striving for a superficial perfection that doesn't exist and takes away from a persons individuality and uniqueness that is what makes someone beautiful. ⠀ ⠀ Pregnancy has helped educate myself further about my body, what it is capable of, and just how incredible and perfect we are already. Take the placenta as an example. ⠀ ⠀ The magic of the placenta is a beautiful organ. It is attached to the wall of our uterus and the umbilical cord connects the placenta to our child. Our blood passes through the placenta filtering oxygen, glucose, nutrients, harmful substances, removal of carbon dioxide, and waste from our child through the umbilical cord. It not only filters what is needed and what isn't for our child, but it also produces hormones that are needed during pregnancy. It is a gate keeper and separates our blood from our child's to protect our little ones from infection as well as provides antibodies to protect them after they enter into our world. ⠀ ⠀ Design: ©2017 Designs By Duvet Days / All Rights Reserved⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Shop: DesignsByDuvetDays.com A post shared by Duvet Days (@duvet_days) on Sep 6, 2017 at 6:19am PDT
