В Англии Покахонтас стала знаменитостью, была даже представлена ко двору. Вскоре заразилась оспой и скончалась 21 марта 1617 г. в возрасте 22 лет. 3. Для придания картине своеобразного колорита и духа времён колонизации Америки к работе привлекли специалистов по индейской культуре. Роль вождя озвучил настоящий индеец, Рассел Минс, тогда как капитан Смит говорит голосом Мела Гибсона. 4. Pocahontas's real name was Matoaka. As a child, she was also called Pocahontas, meaning "playful one," and the name stuck. Her father was Powhatan (c. 1550–1618), the chief of a group of tribes that bore his name and spoke the Native American Algonquian language. 2. In England Pocahontas was a great success. She was treated as a princess, entertained by the Anglican bishop of London, and introduced to England's King James I and Queen Anne. Pocahantas died from the diseas on 21st of March, 1617 at age 22. 3. Irene Bedard, who voiced Pocahontas, also served as the physical model for the character. The animation was somewhat influenced by her physicalities. 4. Pocahontas is one of two Disney movies based on a true historical story.
