View this post on Instagram "You have the heart of a champion" ❤️ . . Dear followers: It doesn't get any more real than this. If you ever wanted to know why I chose to be in this industry, it's for moments like this. We were honored to be a part of something so special. . . A little background: A few weeks ago, Katy (the bride) emailed me and told us the story of her fiancé Derick losing his brother Jake, 13 years ago in a tragic accident. She said he didn't speak of it much but wished Jake would have been able to stand beside him as the best man at their wedding. Derick's mother made the decision to donate his organs. With her help, years later Katy was able to get in touch with the recipient of Jake's heart, a beautiful young woman named Gracie. She reached out to her and Gracie delightfully accepted her invitation to come to their wedding. . . I was so incredibly humbled to have her share that story and it stuck with me most of the day. Over the next few weeks we chatted about the best ways to do this "surprise" for Derick. When the moment came, Martina and I were so focused on getting the best shots that I didn't have time to think. But sitting here putting this little clip together brings me to tears. . . I post clips like this for our couples and their friends. Sure it's fun to see parts of your wedding and get instant gratification. But for me it goes beyond that. So much of what we film are vulnerable, real things. Weddings are such unique events in people's lives. It's a time that allows everyone who witnesses it to reflect on themselves, their own relationships, and their loved ones. If we can help with that in even the tiniest way, then I feel good about the job that we're given the opportunity to do. . . . "Turn pain into power. Turn struggles into strength. Turn tragedies into triumphs." A post shared by Fonash Studios | Wedding Films (@fonashstudios) on Sep 8, 2019 at 8:43pm PDT
